Search M.E., we believe, is a charity with a difference.
We hope to raise the major part of our donations through organising Rock and Pop concerts with the possibility of also raising funds by putting on Celebrity Sporting Events. We believe that if we are asking, you, the public to dig into your pockets for us then we should be willing to provide something in return that you will enjoy.
We have already had a measure of success in staging and assisting at events. You can read about these on our History Page.
We say we are a charity with a difference and we say that because unlike many charities we have no paid staff. Everyone who works so hard for Search M.E. does so free of charge. This means that all the cash raised at events goes into our bank account to be used in research programmes and to assist in raising awareness of the problems faced by M.E. sufferers on a daily basis.
We are based in Rosyth and at present have three Directors whose areas of expertise combine to form a formidable team.
Robert Sclater ( Director / Chairman )
Robert has been in the building trade since the age of sixteen. Trained as an Architect he has worked for major house builders and became self employed at the age of thirty-five and ran a very successful business until 1992 when his life was taken over by M.E. So he knows what this horrible disease can do to a person’s life and now does all in his limited power to give a voice to those people who are too ill to speak for themselves. He is an active member of the Cross Party Group on M.E. in the Scottish Parliament and is not afraid to speak out against any injustice that he comes across.
Doreen Sclater ( Director / Secretary )
Doreen has a vast knowledge of business administration and is invaluable to the team at Search M.E. where her computer skills are put to the test repeatedly. She has excellent people skills and although she is small in stature she has a giant personality. Her advice is constantly sought and valued. Doreen and Robert have been married for 33 years and still fancy each other.
